Technical Committee on Grid Interfaces

The objective of this Committee is to reach across IEEE Societies to foster awareness, communicate about, and coordinate efforts concerning essential interfaces between electric, vehicles (EVs) and the electric power grid. The scope includes the following elements:

• Charge and discharge electrical interconnections, ride-through requirements, and demand management controls
• Design of EV charging and metering/monitoring infrastructure
• Development of “roaming” options for EV billing and credits
• Communication requirements to maintain EV safety and service functions
• Integration of EV into building services and backup needs
• Incorporation of electric vehicles into demand flexibility services, particularly dispatch and ancillary service regimes
• Incorporating electric vehicles into VPP (Virtual Power Plants)
• Forecasting EV demand profiles and growth rate
